JAIPUR: The question paper of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG), the national entrance exam for admission to medical courses including MBBS and BDS, is suspected to have been leaked. The exam was held on May 3. The reason for the suspicion is that the question paper circulated among students in Sikar, Rajasthan is similar to some parts of the original question paper.

An investigation conducted by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group revealed that out of the 720 questions in the NEET exam, 600 were similar to those in the question paper. Authorities are wondering whether this was a coincidence or if the question paper was leaked. The question paper was circulated in Sikar two days before the NEET exam. It was sold for between Rs 20,000 and Rs 2 lakh. About 30,000 question papers were sold before the exam.

The Rajasthan Special Operations Group has said that the question paper was leaked by an MBBS student from Churu, Rajasthan, studying in a medical college in Kerala. He handed over the question paper to a friend in Sikar on May 1. It was then circulated among paying guest accommodation, coaching institutes and students preparing for NEET.
The circulated question paper had more than 300 handwritten questions from subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The entire handwriting on the question paper was the same. The question paper was shared through social media. The investigation team is checking whether copies of it were directly shared.

It was also found that the owner of a paying guest accommodation had shared the question paper. He had later complained to the police. However, it is suspected that this was to divert the investigation. The National Testing Agency is moving to take action on the matter after an investigation by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group.
