Did not wish 'Happy New Year'; youth in serious condition after being stabbed 24 times in Thrissur

THRISSUR: In a shocking incident, a youth sustained serious injuries after being stabbed for not wishing a 'Happy New Year.' The incident took place in Mulloorkkara in Thrissur. Attoor native Suhaib (22) was stabbed by Shafi, an accused in various criminal cases. According to police, the attack was triggered by Suhaib's refusal to wish Shafi and his friends a 'Happy New Year.'

Suhaib and four friends were returning from a music concert in Cheruthuruthy when they got off at a bus stop in Mullurkara. Shafi and his friends approached them there and greeted them with "Happy New Year." However, Suhaib and his group did not respond. This led to an altercation, during which Suhaib was stabbed.

Currently, Suhaib is undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital and is in critical condition. Police have stated that he suffered 24 stab wounds.
