Govindan suffers setback in own constituency; Flex boards demand Swaraj as state secretary and Jayarajan as district secretary
KANNUR: Following the heavy defeat in the elections, flex boards demanding a change in leadership have reappeared. The flex boards have been installed in the constituency of CPM state secretary M V Govindan. The flex boards demand to make M Swaraj as state secretary and P Jayarajan as the district secretary. The flex boards have been installed in the name of Kurumathur comrades.
The flex also says, ‘If a leader starts doing something other than serving the people, the people will defeat him.’ Along with the pictures of Swaraj and Jayarajan, the picture of EMS has also been included in the flex. Following the heavy defeat in the elections, there was a demand for a change in leadership in the CPM. This demand was strongly raised in Kannur. The activists demanded the removal of M V Govindan from the post of state secretary and K K Ragesh from the district secretary post. Posters had also appeared in Kannur earlier raising this issue. The poster read, 'Replace the party secretary and district secretary who are bringing disrepute to the party in the public sphere.' The posters appeared on the gate pillar on Dharamsala University Road under the name Morazha comrades.
