KOTTAYAM: NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair said the election result is a victory of democracy and not the result of anyone’s merit as some claim. The people who were fed up with the situation, voted for a change, and that reflected in favor of the Congress and the UDF, he said while speaking to the media in Perunna.

‘The election result should not be seen merely as anti-incumbency, but rather as a result of internal issues in politics. The NSS has no objection to whoever the UDF chooses as the chief minister. Only capable and experienced ones should be selected. The decision in this regard must be taken by the Congress central leadership.

Our disagreement with V D Satheesan did not affect the election. We maintained an equidistant stand. However, we still have differences with some of his stands.

We had asked the Nair community to vote in an equidistant manner. The NSS did not instruct anyone to ensure the victory or defeat of any particular candidate. I had said even earlier that a change in government was necessary, but at that time everyone mocked me. We have no intention of securing anything from the government through illegitimate means beyond our genuine needs. When the needs were not addressed, we approached the court and secured them,’ clarified Sukumaran Nair.
