Yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow; IMD warns of rainfall with thunderstorms in Kerala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department said there is a possibility of heavy rain in isolated places in the state for five days. The rain is due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep, close to the south Kerala coast. The current alert is from May 7 to 11. It is warned that there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds gusting to 30 to 50 kmph at isolated places in Kerala and Mahe. A low-pressure area is also present at an altitude of 0.9 km above sea level through interior Karnataka and Maharashtra.
According to IMD’s rain warning for the next 5 days, a yellow alert was issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts today and for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Kannur districts tomorrow. On Saturday, the 9th, a yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode districts. On Sunday, the 11th, a yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts, and on Monday, the 11th, for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts. The Indian Meteorological Department has advised people to be vigilant as heavy rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is likely in 24 hours.
