SURYAPET: A 24-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her husband in full public view in Suryapet, Telangana, following a prolonged domestic conflict. The victim, identified as Sirisha, was reportedly attacked after refusing to reconcile with her husband during a police counselling session.
The accused, Manideep, a truck driver, was apprehended by the police shortly after the incident. Investigative reports suggest that the couple, who married for love six years ago, had been experiencing severe marital strain over the last year. Police officials stated that Manideep’s chronic alcoholism and unfounded suspicions regarding his wife’s character led to frequent physical and mental harassment.
The tragedy unfolded on Thursday after both parties were summoned to the local police station for mediation. Following the session, Sirisha maintained her stance of living separately and was preparing to submit a formal statement to the authorities. As she attempted to leave the premises in an auto-rickshaw, Manideep intercepted her and forcibly dragged her out. CCTV footage shows the victim fleeing into a nearby tea stall for safety, where the assailant pursued her and inflicted fatal stab wounds to her chest and shoulder. The couple is survived by a four-year-old son.
