THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amidst parleys and heated debates to find the new chief minister of Kerala, it is reported that things are going in favour of KC Venugopal. In a personal meeting held by AICC observers yesterday, it is reported that 47 of the 63 nominated Congress MLAs suggested the name of AICC General Secretary.
A national media outlet reported that prominent leaders, including KPCC President Sunny Joseph, supported KC Venugopal. It is reported that leaders like Sandeep Varier, Sajeev Joseph, T.O. Mohanan, and Usha Vijayan are also among those who supported the AICC General Secretary. However, Ramesh Chennithala has not received the necessary support from the MLAs. Even his trusted confidant, I.C. Balakrishnan, reportedly supported both Venugopal and Chennithala. Chennithala received the support of eight MLAs. Images of documents in the possession of high command observers have also been released to confirm this.

Opposition leader VD Satheesan, who appeared to be a popular face in the elections, received the support of just six MLAs. While Satheesan and Chennithala met the observers and made their claims, KC Venugopal stayed away from the meeting. The Congress Legislature Party meeting has tasked AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to nominate the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister will be announced within two days after completing the procedures. The report also states that the Chief Minister and other ministers will take the oath and take office within two days.
