'Avoid holding demonstrations and installing flex boards'; VD Satheesan requests to party and alliance workers

KOCHI: The debate over who should become the next Chief Minister of Kerala has intensified within the Congress party. Supporters of Opposition Leader V D Satheesan, K C Venugopal, and Ramesh Chennithala have put up flex boards and raised slogans in different places in support of their leaders.

Over the past two days, Congress workers in several areas even held marches demanding that V D Satheesan be made Chief Minister. Reports had also emerged that the Congress high command pressured K C Venugopal, who reportedly has the support of many MLAs, to step back from the race.

Amid the growing discussions, V D Satheesan has now appealed to party workers to stop creating trouble for the party and the UDF by holding demonstrations and putting up flex boards.

In his Facebook post, Satheesan said that the Congress-led UDF had achieved a historic victory by winning 102 seats and added that, at this moment of happiness and pride, leaders and workers should avoid doing anything that could create trouble for the party or the alliance.

With 102 seats, we have achieved the biggest victory in the history of the Congress and the UDF. The first phase of the process to select the Congress Legislature Party leader has been completed. The AICC is now moving to the second phase of the process.

These are moments of happiness and pride for all of us. In such a situation, no leader or worker should do anything that creates difficulty for the party or the alliance.
Holding demonstrations in factions and installing flex-boards should be avoided. I affectionately request my dear Congress and UDF workers to refrain from such actions.
