VADANAPPALLY: Amid the growing leadership battle within the Congress party over the Chief Minister post, a CPM leader was caught on CCTV allegedly placing a flex board supporting K C Venugopal in Vadakkekad. Aravassery Mohammed, a local committee member of the CPM, allegedly installed the flex board in the name of “Save Congress.” The banner carried the slogan “Let KC lead” along with a photo of K C Venugopal.

The incident reportedly took place around 11 pm in front of the Vadakkekad Grama Panchayat office. CCTV visuals later showed Mohammed placing the flex board by the roadside, exposing what Congress leaders called a political move by the CPM.

According to reports, Mohammed himself shared a Facebook post about the flex board the next morning. Congress leaders also released a WhatsApp message allegedly sent by him, in which he said he believed the CCTV camera was not working and that he was unaware a new camera had been installed in the area.

Following the incident, the UDF mandalam committee filed a police complaint and staged a protest march. UDF leaders accused the CPM of being behind a planned conspiracy to create confusion within the Congress party.

In recent days, several flex boards supporting both K C Venugopal and V D Satheesan had appeared across the district. Demonstrations in support of V D Satheesan were also held in Thrissur city, Kodungallur, Perumpilavu and Irinjalakuda.
The controversy intensified after the CCTV visuals of the CPM leader installing the flex board became public.
