Police fire tear gas as CJP protest reaches Parliament gates; Abhijeet Dipke detained?

NEW DELHI: Security was clamped down at the national capital today as police deployed tear gas to disperse Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protestors attempting to reach the Parliament gates. The complex has been placed on high alert, with authorities restricting all entry and exit points as the situation escalated.

The security measures are particularly critical as the Parliament’s monsoon session commenced today, with the Vice President, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, and Defence Minister reportedly inside the complex.

The demonstration began earlier in the day when the CJP organised a march from Jantar Mantar toward the Parliament. Police initially blocked the procession at the starting point, leading to skirmishes and a lathi charge after protestors attempted to breach police barricades.

The crowd later regrouped and advanced toward the Rail Bhawan area, prompting police to deploy tear gas to clear the demonstrators. CJP party spokespersons confirmed that senior leader Abhijeet Dipke was taken into police custody during the unrest.

Despite the heavy police presence and subsequent clashes, CJP leaders stated that they managed to hold a ten-minute meeting with BJP leader J.P. Nadda, during which they submitted a formal letter outlining the party’s demands.
