Finance influencer's death: YouTuber Jason Samuel arrested

CHENNAI: A YouTuber has been arrested in connection with the suicide of social media influencer V Harish (27). The arrested person has been identified as Jason Samuel. Harish and Jason had reportedly been involved in disputes earlier. Jason was arrested by the Kanathur police in Tamil Nadu following a complaint filed by Harish's father. Before committing suicide, Harish had posted a video alleging that YouTuber and tech company CEO Jason Samuel had been constantly carrying out cyber attacks against him that led to his account being blocked. He also said that five years of his hard work had been destroyed and that he was under severe mental stress.

Harish's Instagram channel, 'Finance with Harish', which had 1.3 million followers, was highly popular. A native of Puducherry, Harish was reportedly distressed after the channel was blocked over alleged violations of platform rules. This is believed to have contributed to his decision to take his own life. Jason had also posted a defamatory video targeting Harish. In his complaint, Harish's father alleged that Jason had threatened his son online.
