KOCHI: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the morphing complaint at Bharata Matha College in Thrikkakara. The action is following the incident of circulating morphed obscene photos and videos of female teachers and students on social media groups. Cyber police officers will also be part of the SIT. The investigation will be led by Thrikkakara ACP.
Srihari, a second-year BBA Logistics student and KSU media cell convenor of the college and a native of Kilimanoor in Thiruvananthapuram, was arrested the other day. He morphed and circulated mostly the photos of female teachers. Though he started this in 2025, the incident came to light recently after other students came across a morphed image of a female classmate. Srihari clicks secretly the photos of teachers and female students on his mobile phone during celebrations and other events at the college. He then morphs the images and posts them on Telegram and Instagram.
An investigation has also found that there are separate social media groups for circulating these obscene images. The police have evidence of Srihari selling the morphed images through Telegram and Instagram groups.
Students of the college allege that other students were also involved in the offence besides Srihari. The police are examining whether there are other links in the alleged racket. More arrests are expected in the coming days after all digital evidence has been collected.
