Three including child killed after lorry rams into bus stop in Kollam

KOLLAM: Three people including a child have been killed after a tipper lorry losing control rammed into a bus stop. Four students suffered injuries and have been admitted to a hospital. The accident happened at Neeleswaram in Kottarakkara, Kollam.

Two senior citizens and a child are those killed in the accident. The three dead have been identified as Harilal (52), Parthip (15) and Ajaya Kumar (45). The injured has been shifted to a hospital in Kottarakkara. Their injuries are not serious.

The speeding lorry laden with mud rammed on to the bus stop at Mukkoli Mukku in Kottarakkara. Seven children and a senior citizen were in the bus stop at that time. The lorry has been completely damaged in the accident. The fire force along with the police lifted the lorry and took the people out who were trapped under the mud.

The injured has been identified as Kushal (15), Rishab Boban (15), Navaneeth (13), Jibimol (15) and Nisam of Chavara, the driver of the tipper lorry.

More people are suspected to be involved in the accident. Witnesses said the tipper lost control after hitting a bike. A portion of a building nearby has been damaged.
