KALPETTA: The body of one more person missing in the landslide at Kalladi in Wayanad has been recovered. The body was recovered from the river during a search conducted Friday morning. With this, the death toll in the landslide has risen to seven. One more person is yet to be found. The condition of two undergoing treatment in the hospital is critical.
The body recovered today has not been identified. The bodies of construction manager Vikram Rana and surveyor Rakesh Guchait are yet to be found. The body recovered today is believed to be that of one of them. The body will be handed over to the relatives after identification.
Due to adverse weather conditions yesterday, extensive searches could not be carried out. Heavy rains in the area made the search difficult, including in the river. The fire force team had to return without searching in the river. Ministers A P Anil Kumar and T Siddique are camping in the area.
A large team of more than 500 people, including NDRF, RRF, fire force and local police, is leading the search. Cadaver dogs have also been deployed for the search. Konkan authorities from Delhi will also reach the site today.
