THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Kerala is likely to receive heavy rainfall in the coming days as well. Rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds may occur across all districts. According to weather officials, atmospheric changes over the sea are causing the pre-monsoon rains. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal by May 11. A cyclonic circulation is also currently present over the Gulf of Mannar and Sri Lanka.
Another cyclonic circulation remains active over the southwest Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, and the Kerala coast. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious as thunderstorms are likely during the afternoon hours. People are also warned to be careful while walking or parking vehicles, as strong winds may cause trees to fall. Those travelling through hilly regions have been asked to exercise extra caution.
