ABU DHABI: The UAE has confirmed reports that Flydubai co-pilot Hammam Al Hammami attempted to crash the plane at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport. According to the UAE investigation report, he intended to kill everyone on board, including the passengers.
The investigation found that the 29-year-old had been drawn to extremist ideologies while studying in Australia in 2017. It also noted that the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre had inspired him. Hammam Al Hammami told investigators that he had acted alone, without any external assistance. The report added that passengers and crew members worked together to overpower him.
