'Not a single drop of oil': Iran warns US over sanctions

TEHRAN: Iran has issued a warning to the United States over its continued push for economic sanctions, saying further restrictions could disrupt oil exports from the Gulf. Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said in a post on X that if the sanctions continue, the US would not be able to export even a drop of oil from the Gulf region.

The warning came after US President Donald Trump announced tougher economic measures against Iran and warned that countries maintaining trade ties with Tehran could face serious consequences.

Rezaei said Iran would regard the actions of any country supporting what he described as Washington's economic war against the Iranian people as an act of war.

Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington was preparing to impose tougher economic sanctions on Iran. He said the US had entered the final stage of its campaign against Tehran and described the measures as the largest economic attack against Iran so far.
