KOCHI: Actors Asif Ali and Dulquer Salmaan have extended their solidarity to students participating in nationwide protests and demonstrations at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, calling for the attention and intervention of both the government and the public.
Weighing in on the ongoing agitations, Asif Ali stated that the protesting youth and students represent the future promise of the country. Emphasising that listening to their grievances is the responsibility of the administration, he noted that standing alongside them is the duty of the public. "I express complete solidarity with the students," Asif Ali said. His remarks have since drawn widespread support across social media platforms.
Meanwhile, actor Dulquer Salmaan shared deep concern and anguish over the uncertainty faced by students, referencing instances of young people taking their own lives amid distress. Highlighting that individuals with dreams and aspirations deserve compassion and respect, Dulquer released a statement addressing the situation at Jantar Mantar.
"What's happening at Jantar Mantar is a reminder to pause, listen, and choose understanding," Dulquer stated. "Education has always been about hope, opportunity, and the promise of a better future. Seeing young people face uncertainty is gut wrenching. What breaks my heart even more is knowing some students feel they have no way forward, whilst others even choosing to end everything. And parents carrying that pain and debts trying to keep their hopes alive."
He added that behind every opinion are individuals with families and hopes that deserve dignity. "My hope is for meaningful dialogue, peaceful resolutions, and decisions guided by wisdom and empathy. A future built on understanding will always be stronger than one built on division and violence," he said.
