NEW DELHI: Former Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has revealed fresh details about India’s military operations during Operation Sindoor, including the incident involving an Indian loitering munition that struck the Kirana Hills area in Pakistan.

According to Chauhan, the munition was sent to locate radar installations around Sargodha but failed to identify its intended target. It eventually ran out of fuel and crashed in the Kirana Hills area. He clarified that the area, which is linked to Pakistan’s nuclear infrastructure, was not an intended target.

India had deployed loitering munitions in the Sargodha region to detect Pakistani radar systems. The weapons can remain in the air for a considerable period while searching for designated targets. If they fail to locate a target, they eventually descend.

Chauhan also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed the armed forces to destroy a Jaish-e-Mohammed base during Operation Sindoor.
