NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India should become a global hub for the space sector, attracting the world’s leading space talent, companies and investments. India should create an ecosystem where the world looks towards the country when it thinks of space, Modi said. He said the Indian space sector can become a magnet for global talent, companies and investment.
Modi interacted with CEOs and founders of 20 space startups at Seva Teerth in New Delhi, ahead of National Space Day. He called for expanding the applications of space technology to more areas, including agriculture and the environment. Stable policies and government support would give entrepreneurs confidence, Modi said. He noted that opening the space sector to private participation had created new opportunities.
India should create an environment where people from different parts of the world come to the country to build careers in the space sector, he said. Indian startups should also be able to establish a presence in global markets and grow into world-class companies.
Representatives of startups working in areas including rocket manufacturing, satellites, advanced propulsion, space and defence intelligence, space debris removal and AI-based weather services participated in the interaction.
