Newly married woman dies from fall while feeding monkeys

CHENNAI: A newly married woman lost her life while feeding fruits to the monkeys. The incident happened at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu. The dead has been identified as Anitha (29), wife of Suresh of Thittankulam in Thoothukudi. The couple got married in May and the incident happened when Suresh, who is working abroad, reached home.

The couple visited the Kalugasalamoorthy temple Saturday morning. After offering prayers at the temple, the couple climbed to the hilltop Uchipillaiyar shrine. The couple was feeding fruits to the monkeys and then several of them suddenly gathered around her. Meanwhile, the woman panicked, lost her balance and fell from the hilltop and died on the spot itself. Fire and rescue services reached on being informed and shifted her body to the hospital. The police have registered a case and have started an investigation.
