NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the formation of a high-level task force to strengthen the credibility of examinations across the country. The task force will be headed by noted technology expert Nandan Nilekani. The Prime Minister made the announcement through a video shared on Instagram, which has already been viewed by more than five million people.
According to Modi, the task force has been set up to ensure the integrity and transparency of examinations while promoting the maximum use of technology in the examination process. He said the government has already taken several strict measures to safeguard the future of students. The Prime Minister also said that those involved in examination malpractices have been jailed and that fast-track courts have been established to deal with such cases.
The Centre is also moving towards stricter punishment to curb question paper leaks and organised examination fraud. The move comes amid controversies over irregularities in competitive examinations. Modi said the government will swiftly implement measures to ensure the credibility of future examinations based on the recommendations of the task force.
