NEW DELHI: Telegram has approached the Delhi High Court against the temporary ban imposed on its services in India. The company has filed the petition after the central government restricted Telegram services ahead of the NEET re-examination. The petition was presented before Justice Tejas Karia, with a request for urgent hearing.
Telegram argued that the government took a unilateral decision and acted without seeking the company's explanation. The Delhi High Court vacation bench will consider the petition today.
The central government has imposed the restriction on Telegram until June 22. The Ministry of Home Affairs said the move was taken as part of security measures for the NEET re-examination. According to information provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the cyber security department introduced restrictions on Telegram services to prevent exam-related fraud.
