NEW DELHI: Two law students have been arrested for allegedly creating a disturbance inside the Supreme Court and misbehaving during court proceedings. The accused, Prabal Pratap Singh and Chander Bhan, both from Uttar Pradesh, were arrested on charges of obstructing a public servant from performing official duties and assaulting security personnel.

The incident took place on July 10. According to reports, the two students entered the courtroom and interrupted the hearing by making insulting remarks against Chief Justice Surya Kant. They also threw papers inside the courtroom, disrupting the proceedings. Following a complaint filed by security officials, Tilak Marg Police registered an FIR and arrested the two accused.

Despite the disruption, Chief Justice Surya Kant chose not to initiate contempt of court proceedings or take any stricter legal action against the students. The court observed that one of the students appeared to be deeply upset and was speaking out of frustration.

"He is very disturbed. He spoke out of disappointment. We only have sympathy for him," the court said.

Chief Justice Surya Kant also stressed that protecting the dignity of constitutional institutions is more important than taking harsh action in such situations.
