MUMBAI: A 26-year-old woman committed suicide at her husband's house on the 48th day of her marriage. She has been identified as Vishakha (26) of Thane in Mumbai. Reports say the woman took the drastic step after she was mentally and physically harassed by her doctor husband Nitin Tilkar and in-laws. The problems initially started over dowry. After the wedding, Nitin's family complained that they did not receive the dowry they desired at the time of marriage. She was also pressured to bring more money from her home.
Nitin also installed CCTVs inside and outside the house to watch his wife’s every move. He had installed the camera even in his bedroom. The couple got married on April 30. Her family told police that two days before her death, her husband had beaten her for talking to their neighbour.
The woman had told her mother about the harassment she was facing before her death. She took her life when they were to go to Nitin’s house to bring her back home. A case has been registered at the Shivaji Nagar Police Station in Ambernath against her husband and in-laws. Nitin has been arrested and a hunt is on for the others.
