KOCHI: The Ernakulam CJM court dismissed the defamation case filed by K Sudhakaran MP against CPM state secretary M V Govindan. The court dismissed the case after the complainant repeatedly failed to appear before the court.
M V Govindan had reacted to the news published in Deshabhimani about K Sudhakaran's relationship with Monson Mavunkal, an accused in the antiques fraud case. M V Govindan alleged that Sudhakaran was also present in the house when Monson Mavunkal abused a minor girl.
It was against this allegation that K Sudhakaran filed a defamation case in the special court in Kochi, which considers cases of MPs and MLAs. K Sudhakaran approached the court on July 23, 2023, alleging that it was a deliberate attempt to badly portray his individuality and political image.
In addition to M V Govindan, Sudhakaran had also filed a case against the then Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya and the Deshabhimani daily for the same allegation. When the case was being considered today, the lawyer informed that Sudhakaran had left to appear but could not reach on time. Sudhakaran's lawyer said that would file an appeal in the high court after the dismissal of the case.
