One held for sexual assault attempt on 15-year-old girl in name of black magic

PATHANAMTHITTA: One has been arrested for trying to sexually assault a 15-year-old girl in the name of black magic. The arrested is T Renju of Poruvazhy in Kollam. He had come to a house in the Mundappally area of Adoor for performing black magic. He reached here via a panchayat member from Poruvazhy.

The incident happened on June 10. Renju tried to sexually assault her while conducting the rituals at her house in Adoor at night. The girl then informed her family and later revealed the incident during counseling.

A POCSO case was filed against Renju based on the complaint filed by her family and then his arrest was registered. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has also been filed against him. It is reported that Renju was previously a member of the BJP Kollam district committee. However, local BJP leaders have clarified that he has no connection with the party. The accused will be produced in the court soon.
