THRISSUR: Two people were arrested with about 35 kilograms of ganja on the Perumpilavu Pattambi road. The accused were arrested in a joint operation conducted by Kunnamkulam police and the district anti-narcotics squad Wednesday morning. Sanal (24) of Chowannur Manthoppu and Mubashir (25) of Nannammukku Pallikkara in Malappuram were taken into custody by the police with ganja.

The police arrested the accused while they were trying to smuggle ganja in a Swift car following a tip-off received by the anti-narcotics squad. The police asked the accused to stop the car in which they were travelling, but they tried to escape in the speeding car. While the accused were trying to escape from the hands of the police following them, their vehicle hit the vehicle of district anti-narcotics squad sub-inspector Rakesh. The police team reached the spot immediately and arrested them.

The accused said the ganja was brought to Kerala from Bengaluru. The police informed that further investigation is underway.
