Bodies of two Malayali women murdered in California brought home

KOCHI: The bodies of the two Malayali women murdered in California have been brought to Kerala. The relatives of the two received the bodies at the Cochin International Airport in Nedumbassery. The victims have been identified as Anjana Vijeesh (35), of Thekkoot House, Mudikkode, Mannuthy, Thrissur, and Ann Mary Mathew (35), of Mattath House, Kakkanad Lane in Kesavadasapuram, Thiruvananthapuram. Their friend, Anila Baby of Kottayam, accused of the murders, is presently lodged at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Anjana’s body will first be taken to her husband’s house in Peechi and then to her native place, Mudikkode. The body of Ann Mary Mathew will be taken to Kottayam. They will be laid to rest either this evening or tomorrow.

The murders were committed at Milpitas in California on August 28. Preliminary information is that Anjana was called down from her apartment and was allegedly killed after being fatally knocked down by a car. The car reportedly fled the scene without stopping.

Jacob, Ann Mary’s husband, had called her to ask about picking up their younger daughter from school, but she did not answer the phone. When he reached the apartment, he found her stabbed to death in the bathroom. Ann Mary and her husband Jacob had been living in California for eight years. They have two children, Andreena (10) and Alisa (5). Anjana and her husband Vijeesh had also been living in California for eight years. Vamika is her daughter.
