PALAKKAD: The children of Sudhakaran, who was killed in the Nenmara double murder case, said they are happy that the accused, Chenthamara, has been sentenced to death. They said the verdict has strengthened their faith in the court but admitted they would continue to live in fear until the sentence is carried out. They also said that they are scared to return to their home in Nemmara as they have no family left there.
"We expected him to receive the death penalty, and we are happy that the court awarded it. But we still fear that he could escape from prison. That fear will remain until Chenthamara is executed," they said.
"He did not kill just one person. He killed our father, our grandmother, and others," the children said, struggling to hold back their tears.
They also welcomed the court's direction to provide a government job to one of the family members. However, they said no compensation could make up for the loss of their parents.
"There is no one left for us at home. We are afraid to return to our house in Nenmara because we have no close relatives there anymore," they added.
