'This is our government too; CM patiently listened to our concerns, and we believe there will be a favourable decision'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSU state president Aloshious Xavier on Monday met Chief Minister V D Satheesan amid the controversy over the appointment of government pleaders. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Aloshious said KSU has conveyed its concerns to the government and that the final decision now rests with the Chief Minister.

"The Chief Minister and all the Congress ministers have come through KSU. Once you become a KSU activist, you remain one throughout your life. This is our government and our Chief Minister. We expect the government to take a decision by taking into account the spirit and concerns of KSU," he said.

Aloshious said the Chief Minister patiently listened to KSU's concerns during the meeting and expressed confidence that a favourable decision would be taken.

He also said it was unfortunate that discussions on social media in recent days had not focused on the merits of the issue. Instead, he said, the matter was portrayed as a political fight within the Congress.

"There is no situation where KSU is staging a major protest against the Congress government. The Congress party's massive victory is also the result of the blood, sweat and hard work that all of us put in together over the past 10 years. That is what I meant when I said this is our government. The campaigns on social media claiming that KSU is trying to weaken the Congress government are baseless allegations," he added.

The meeting comes days after a controversy erupted when Chief Minister V D Satheesan, while attending a function at Sacred Heart College in Kochi, allegedly walked past Aloshious Xavier without acknowledging him. The incident took place amid differences between the government and KSU over the appointment of a government pleader.
