CPM with unusual step over news leaks; Gets signed consent forms to collect phone details

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM has taken an unusual step to prevent the leakage of party information. Members of the state committee were asked to sign consent forms allowing access to their phone records. The move comes ahead of an extended state committee meeting. The Thiruvananthapuram district leadership received the signed consent forms from the leaders.

The action is to prevent the leak of information from party discussions. District secretariat members were given forms in a prescribed format. However, reports say that everyone signed and submitted the forms without raising any objections. The consent form is in such a way that the members themselves authorise the telephone company to provide their call records. The decision was taken at a district secretariat meeting held a few weeks ago.

A section of party leaders has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the move. There are indications that they are planning to bring the issue to the attention of the central and state leadership. A private television channel reported the news over it.
