KOCHI: A 21-year-old woman was found innocent in the case of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy. With this, the court ordered to end further proceedings against the accused. Muvattupuzha POCSO Court Judge A Sameer gave permission to the police to end further proceedings. For the first time since the POCSO Act came into force, an investigation has revealed that a case that reached the court in the district was fake.

The complaint said the woman repeatedly abused the boy sexually from April 25 to May 1, 2021. The boy’s mother of Urulanthanni, filed a complaint with the police on September 4, 2022. The police found that the false complaint against the woman was filed out of vengeance after she lodged a complaint against one of their relatives. The court had convicted him in the case then.

The police became suspicious due to contradictory statements of the boy and his mother. The complainants did not live in the house where the boy was sexually abused as mentioned in the complaint. An investigation conducted showed that the woman had not reached there. The police then approached the court seeking to quash the case.
