THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gold prices in Kerala recorded a slight fall today. The price of one gram of gold fell by Rs 15 to Rs 14,270. The price of one sovereign dropped by Rs 120 to Rs 1,14,160. On Saturday, the price of one sovereign had surged by Rs 1,040, while the price per gram increased by Rs 130.
Following the hike, a sovereign was priced at Rs 1,14,280, and one gram of gold cost Rs 14,285. Gold prices had risen by Rs 2,200 over the past two days before recording a slight decline today. Changes in international gold prices are reflected in the state's gold market. Concerns over rising inflation and higher interest costs have also put pressure on gold prices.
Meanwhile, geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia continues to support demand for gold as a safe-haven investment. Experts say investors generally turn to gold when global uncertainty increases.
There was no change in silver prices in the state today. Silver is priced at Rs 255 per gram. The price is Rs 2,550 for 10 grams and Rs 25,500 for 100 grams. One kilogram of silver costs Rs 2,55,000 today.
