KANNUR: The state government has ordered a Vigilance investigation against CPM leader PP Divya over alleged irregularities during her tenure as president of the Kannur District Panchayat. The allegations include awarding a construction contract to Carton India without inviting tenders.
The investigation was ordered following a complaint filed by KSU vice president Mohammed Shamas. A probe will also be conducted against Abdul Latheef, the former secretary of the Kannur District Panchayat. During the previous government's tenure, the Vigilance Directorate had sought permission to investigate the allegations against Divya but did not receive approval. Subsequently, Yogesh Gupta, who was then the Vigilance Director, was removed from the post.
