THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major gold seizure was reported from the Thiruvananthapuram Air Cargo Complex. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized gold worth Rs 9.5 crore. The DRI has taken Surendran, an agent at the air cargo complex and Arold M Philip, an employee, into custody.

Baggage arriving from abroad is usually stored at the air cargo complex. Some agents deliver these consignments to their respective addresses. The gold was found from one of the baggage.

The DRI has found that the gold was smuggled for the gold traders in Kasaragod. Following a tip-off, DRI officials began surveillance in the morning. Arold, who came out of the complex carrying the gold, and agent Surendran were taken into custody together.
