Relief from heat; Heavy rain likely to lash Kerala, yellow alert in six districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the possibility of rain in Kerala in the next five days. Yellow alerts have been sounded in several districts. Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted in some areas. Heavy rainfall refers to rainfall measuring between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours. The IMD has also said that there is no restriction on fishing activities today (08/09/2026) along the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts.

11/09/2026: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam
12/09/2026: Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad

08/09/2026 & 09/09/2026: Strong winds with speeds of 45 to 55 kmph, occasionally reaching 65 kmph, are likely along the Somalia coast, Oman coast, the adjoining central-western Arabian Sea, southwest Arabian Sea and northwest Arabian Sea.

10/09/2026: Strong winds with speeds of 45 to 55 kmph, occasionally reaching 65 kmph, are likely along the Somalia coast, Oman coast, the adjoining central-western Arabian Sea and southwest Arabian Sea.

11/09/2026 & 12/09/2026: Strong winds with speeds of 45 to 55 kmph, occasionally reaching 65 kmph, are likely along the Somalia coast and the adjoining southwest Arabian Sea. Fishing activities should not be undertaken in these areas on the above-mentioned dates.
