Veena Vijayan appears before Enforcement Directorate in monthly payoff case

KOCHI: Veena Vijayan, daughter of opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the monthly payoff case. She came for the interrogation in a black car around 10.30 am. The interrogation is to investigate the illegal financial transactions made by Veena Vijayan's company Exalogic with Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL).

Veena was earlier asked to appear on Friday, but as she cited health issues, she was asked to appear today. The ED issued the summons again after rejecting Veena's demand to produce the requested documents through a lawyer. The interrogation was extended by five more days based on her mail sent along with her medical reports.

CMRL MD Sasidharan Kartha's wife Jaya Kartha and son Sharan S Kartha appeared for the questioning yesterday. The ED had also questioned Sasidharan Kartha's daughter and one of the company directors, Shibi S Kartha, two days ago. Meantime, Sasidharan Kartha is delaying the interrogation citing health issues.
