THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Diya Krishna, daughter of BJP leader Krishnakumar, offered an explanation regarding a comment she made on a video by a North Indian influencer that allegedly painted Kerala badly on religious terms. Diya states that she posted the comment "sad reality" after spotting the café displaying the portrait of Pakistani leader Jinnah on its walls, alongside images of Mahatma Gandhi.
Diya acknowledged that it was a mistake on her part to comment hastily after watching only the first half of the video, without viewing it in its entirety, and she apologised for this. In a video shared on social media, Diya explained that her comment was misinterpreted by the media and certain content creators.
“I don’t carry hatred for any religion. I am a Hindu, and I respect all other religions. There are individuals from the Muslim community among my close friends. Further, it is Muslim girls and women who show me affection while I travel and visit places.
I am now being subjected to intense cyberattacks and have already received numerous messages, even though the senders are unaware of the actual facts. Media often ignores charitable initiatives or positive endeavours; they readily sensationalise negative stories. Those who are busy criticising me on social media should also take up the nerve to question why a portrait of Jinnah was hanged in the café. I urge the public not to blindly believe everything circulating in the media or on social media. My “ sad reality” comment was simply against the Jinnah portrait on the café walls.”
