Pravasi Malayali's tribute to Guru: Ten lakh people to sing Daiva Dasakam simultaneously across 50 countries

KOCHI: A Pravasi Malayali's dream of bringing together one million people across nearly 50 countries to sing Daiva Dasakam simultaneously in different languages is set to become a reality. The global event will take place this Sunday, October 25, at 7.15 pm Indian time.

Dr Varun Radhakrishnan (41), a native of Kollam settled in Germany, is delighted that the response has exceeded expectations. The event is being organised mainly by the Sree Narayana Forum for Universal Brotherhood, Germany, of which he is the chairman. Sree Narayana organisations in Kerala, including the SNDP Yogam, will also take part. Participants will sing Daiva Dasakam in six languages- Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, English, Hindi and German.

Dr Varun moved to Germany in 2013 after completing his MBBS. Although he went on to become an entrepreneur in sectors such as human resources, real estate and exports, the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, introduced to him by his mother during childhood, continued to guide him. He made it his life's mission to grow through entrepreneurship, support those in need and spread the universal message of Sree Narayana Guru across the world. The Sree Narayana Forum for Universal Brotherhood was established with this vision.

Varun also played a key role in installing Sree Narayana Guru as an Acharya at the Yogavidya Ashram in Bielefeld, founded by local Vedanta scholars. German devotees perform daily pujas and aarati before the Guru's portrait at the ashram. Last month, 350 Vedanta students from different countries gathered at the ashram and sang Daiva Dasakam in German. That experience inspired Varun to conceive the idea of bringing one million people together for the global rendition.

His wife, Dr Veena Mohan, is a cardiologist with the government medical service in Germany. Their children are Sreeya Varun and Aditya Varun. The event will be streamed live on YouTube. Viewers can watch it at: globaldaivadasakam.online
