BENGALURU: A video of a man travelling with five children stuffed inside a metal basket attached to the rear of his bike has gone viral on social media. The visuals are from the Mysuru–Nanjangud road in Karnataka. The video has sparked widespread discussion on social media over the safety of the children.

The video of the man travelling with four children stuffed in a metal basket attached to the rear of his bike has gone viral. In addition, another child can be seen sitting in front of the rider wearing a helmet. None of the children had any protective gear. The video was shared through the X account Sanatan Kannada.

The one who posted the video claimed that the man undertook this risky journey on the Mysuru–Nanjangud Road during the busy weekend on Sunday. The caption of the post reads, ‘Last night on the Mysuru-Nanjangud Road: a man carrying five children on a TVS XL two-wheeler, as if transporting a load of chickens. It was Sunday, a busy weekend, and the Ooty main road. Is anyone concerned about the safety of these children?’

Some demanded action against carrying children in such a manner.

People have criticised the journey, saying that it put the children’s lives at serious risk and also amounted to violations of traffic and transport regulations. Meantime, these things have become very common in most Indian cities, said some.
