THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader S Suresh stepped forward responding to R Sreelekha’s explanation regarding the controversy surrounding her resignation. He said that if she has any complaints, it will be addressed within the party. He added that if there are any lapses from her side on her remarks against Mayor V V Rajesh, it will also be discussed within the party.

Suresh also launched a scathing attack on the chief minister and the leader of the opposition over the protests demanding the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He alleged that the chief minister and the leader of the opposition had staged a political drama in Delhi in front of Malayalam television channels. He said the episode was an insult to Kerala and remarked that Pinarayi had become part of a line of cockroaches. Suresh also said they should at least consider their age.

Sreelekha had revealed that she faced immense pressure in her role as a councillor, comparing the situation to asking a person who had served as a Director General of Police (DGP) to perform the duties of a police constable. She shared her response through her YouTube channel, ‘Sasneham Sreelekha’. She clarified that she had not resigned from the party and described the BJP as the best national party she believed in.

‘My office computer, printer, Wi-Fi and telephone connection are all out of order. The only chair available is broken and sitting on it causes pain in my back. Despite working under these conditions, I have submitted around 12 or 13 letters to the mayor so far.

There is a limit to what the mayor can do. Different people keep sending recommendations, and he marks the files and forwards them to the concerned sections. However, the clerks, superintendents and officers working in these sections may be supporters of a party that has been in power for the past 45 years. A proposal submitted by a councillor, particularly a BJP councillor, simply remains pending. We are then forced to run around and struggle to get things done,’ Sreelekha said.

She added that delays in resolving these issues had caused her considerable distress. Sreelekha said she had eventually written to the mayor, warning that she would resign from her post as councillor if the problems remained unresolved.
