Evidence against director Ranjith in sexual abuse case, charge sheet to be filed soon

KOCHI: The charge sheet in the sexual abuse case against director Ranjith will be filed today. Top officials have given permission to upload the charge sheet online. The charge sheet says there is evidence against Ranjith and that he has been found guilty.

The case is being investigated by a special team led by Kochi DCP. The case was registered on the complaint of a young actress accusing him of misbehaving with her inside a caravan at a film shooting location in Fort Kochi. Ranjith was arrested on March 31 after stopping his car near Muttam on the Thodupuzha-Puliyanmala route.

Ranjith, who was remanded was later granted bail. The incident happened on the set of the film directed by him. The members of the internal committee and those on the sets were questioned.

The actress filed the complaint to the DGP and Kochi Central Police. The incident happened on January 30. Her complaint said that he entered the caravan without permission and tried to kiss her. When she objected, he withdrew from it. Two similar complaints were raised against him earlier. One complaint was by a Bengali actress. A youth had complained that he was subjected to unnatural abuse.
