
KOCHI: The governing body of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) led by its president Shwetha Menon has resigned soon after the outbursts witnessed. The dramatic resignation comes after the disputes at the annual general body meeting convened here Sunday. The resignation came less than a year after taking office. All members of the governing body have resigned. The responsibility of the organization will once again fall into the hands of the ad hoc committee.
Majority of AMMA members had expressed no confidence in the present governing body. This led to the brink of resignation. There were also controversies over the annual report presented by the governing body. It was also reported that a section had prepared a no-confidence motion against the governing body. It is alleged that the leadership had brought disrepute to the organization.
It is reported that serious allegations were levelled against the leadership for serving liquor at IFFK and why a new venue was chosen at a cost of Rs 4 lakh when a free venue was available. Who gave permission for all these. There are also major discussions and criticisms in the meeting regarding the presentation of the annual accounts.
