THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior CPM leader and former minister P K Sreemathy broke down while addressing the media, alleging that a false smear campaign is being waged against her on social media. She said she would file complaints against the online platforms, satellite channels and newspaper that circulated the claims.
Sreemathy said false reports alleged that she was drawing a family pension by posing as the wife of MLA P R Krishnan. She dismissed the allegation as completely baseless and accused those behind it of spreading misinformation in a convincing manner. I have been in public life for 50 years. Not one person bothered to verify the facts with me before publishing these reports. The campaign against me is being carried out in a very disgraceful manner, she said.
The news was carried in Janam TV, Karma, Bharat Live and the Kannur-based evening daily Sudhinam. All necessary evidence had already been collected and handed over to her lawyer two days ago for legal action. She alleged that the intention behind the reports was to defame and tarnish her reputation as a public representative, adding that she had faced similar false campaigns in the past.
