Police officer suspended for assaulting SFI activists in intoxicated condition

PALAKKAD: A police officer has been suspended over allegations of assaulting SFI activists under the influence of alcohol. The officer suspended is Shafadh, CPO of Palakkad AR Camp. He was suspended on the directive of Palakkad district police chief.

The incident happened last Sunday. The march staged by the SFI to the town railway station tried to enter the premises of it. Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out with the police. One cop among them was under the influence of alcohol and the students alleged that he beat them with the knuckle duster. Soon after the allegation was levelled, the other cops on duty immediately shifted Shafadh from there. The SFI activists then lodged a complaint with the Palakkad Town North Police and SP. The cop was suspended soon after the report of his blood tests came.
