‘We were tired after class; conductor did not pay heed even after saying we were willing to travel standing,’ say students

THRISSUR: The incident in which Class 10 students of Clelia School in Wadakkancherry were allegedly denied entry into a private bus has sparked widespread controversy. Sayan, one of the students who pleaded with the conductor, has now stepped forward responding to the incident.

‘We reached the Wadakkancherry bus stand at around 5 pm on Tuesday, while the bus was scheduled to leave at 5:05 pm. Special classes are held in the morning and evening. We somehow wanted to reach home and while trying to enter the bus, the conductor stopped us. The conductor denied entry saying that only two or three can enter.

He did not even listen even after saying that we are willing to travel standing. The bus was not crowded either. We never intended to disrupt the livelihood of bus employees. Since we travel on student concession tickets, it is natural that they find it difficult to carry us. However, there are bus employees who do not discriminate students, said Sayan.

The alleged incident happened on the bus ‘Riyamol’ running on the Kunnamkulam–Wadakkanchery route. The Wadakkanchery police have informed that a case will be registered in the incident and have also warned the owner of the bus.
