THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF Convener TP Ramakrishnan criticised the recommendation made by former Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar to the President in order to remove Public Service Commission Chairman Dr M.R. Baiju. Ramakrishnan alleged that the Governor would not have taken this step without the support of the Kerala government.

At a press conference, Ramakrishnan alleged that the current government is attempting to obstruct the independent functioning of the PSC. The PSC is an independent constitutional body, and the state government has a responsibility to provide the necessary support to strengthen its independent operations. However, Ramakrishnan accused the current government of adopting a stance that undermines the PSC.

"The Governor's stance helps advance the BJP's political interests in Kerala—a fact evident in matters such as the Waqf Board issue. UDF government is rolling the red carpet for BJP to execute their political agenda in Kerala," said Ramakrishnan.

It was found that Former Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar submitted a formal recommendation to the Indian President to remove Kerala Public Service Commission Chairman MR Baiju. It is reported that this recommendation was made a week before Arlekar stepped down as Kerala Governor. The recommendation to the President calls for the removal of the PSC Chairman and all its members, based on serious findings and complaints.
