India bags weightlifting Silver and Bronze; Sreeshankar, Sajan reach finals

GLASGOW: India added a silver and a bronze medal to its tally in weightlifting on the fifth day of the Commonwealth Games, while national athletes M. Sreeshankar and Sajan Prakash advanced to their respective finals.

Gyaneshwari Yadav of Chhattisgarh secured the silver medal in the women's 53kg weightlifting event. In the women's 58kg category, Bindyarani claimed the bronze medal.

In athletics, long jumper M. Sreeshankar booked his spot in the final on his opening attempt with a leap of 8.01 meters. Swimmer Sajan Prakash also progressed, qualifying for the 200-meter butterfly final after finishing third in his heat.
