RIYADH: Five people were injured in a reported Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, news agencies reported. Saudi authorities are also said to have confirmed the attack. The missile attack took place on Saturday afternoon. Following the incident, two Saudia flights scheduled to land in Riyadh were diverted to Jeddah.
Amid the tense situation in Saudi Arabia, several flights to and from Kochi have been cancelled. Saudia flight SV 764/763, scheduled to operate on the Jeddah-Kochi-Jeddah route, was initially rescheduled before being cancelled. Akasa Air flights QP 551 and QP 550, scheduled to operate on the Jeddah-Kochi-Jeddah route, were also cancelled. Air India Express flight IX 522 from Riyadh to Kochi was among the other services cancelled.
Cochin International Airport authorities have advised passengers to contact their respective airlines and check the latest flight updates before leaving for the airport. The Irish Embassy has also advised its citizens not to travel to the airport, citing the serious situation.
